I feel like it has been a long time coming, this coffee catering adventure that we are embarking on. What an exciting, albeit terrifying, moment in our lives!
Coffee has always been a big part of my life. I’ve been drinking coffee since infancy, or so I have been told. My grandpa, with hopes of me not liking coffee, put it in a bottle for me, and I guess you could say the rest is history. But honestly, coffee has always been something that I have greatly enjoyed, both in consuming and serving to all who were willing to enter into my home.
Where I may differ from other coffee connoisseur’s, as I like to call myself, is that I don’t see coffee as a way of life, but as a tool to enhance life and opportunities. Coffee, and other refreshing beverages, are wonderful ice breakers. When someone has a delicious beverage in their hands, there is something that happens. I don’t know what it is, whether it is the feeling of being served or just having some sort of common ground, but it opens the floodgates to deeper conversation and relationship. Many times over the years, as I meet and engage new people, the invite to dive deeper into relationship has always been better received when it includes a coffee invitation.
As the years have gone on, I have become known as the lady who makes great coffee. I don’t mind that, but what I mostly want to be know for is for my servant heart. I desire that people do not just see me serving coffee and making friends, but as someone who desires to serve Christ with all that is within me. I desire that as I serve others coffee and other beverages, that Christ will also be served through me and to those who I serve.
As we begin this journey to serve coffee in different ways to those around us, through catering, beans, and other creative ways, I pray that our heart for serving Christ will always be at the centre of what we do.
